Amalie bloomer is knitted back and forth on double pointed needles or a small circular needle. First, the front piece is knitted from the top down, before casting off stitches on each side for leg openings. Then, the number of stitches is gradually increased on the sides, and the back piece is knitted from the bottom up. The diaper pants are sewn together at the sides. Garter stitch is knitted around the leg openings. Finally, a drawstring is made for tying around the waist, and the top edge of the diaper pants is folded down over the drawstring and sewn in place. Feel free to knit the folded edge at the waist and the drawstring in a contrasting color. The elastic structure means that the diaper pants will fit well and will last a long time.
